This week's significant rain is lining up to affect Queensland - and not just the coast or far north this time, but right down into the southern interior.
Moist air from the Pacific Ocean is running into low pressure over the NT, creating widespread rain and thunderstorms.
As the low pressure is sitting over the NT, that allows a far greater area of Queensland to be in the zone of wet weather, and with a stagnant weather pattern this week, the rain will keep coming day after day.
We're likely to see widespread totals of 100 to more than 300 mm across the five day period.

Already, there have been significant falls, including 80mm at Windorah, and 120-150mm around Townsville.
The white shaded areas here are those on Flood Watch - a heads up for potential flooding in the coming days. The watch shows that Minor to Moderate Flooding is possible. The coloured shading indicate that Minor to Moderate Flooding is already occuring in these areas.

After this weather system has left its wet mark on Queensland, there are signs it may move southwards this weekend. Currently into northeast NSW and the NSW coast - but this is a system to watch to see how far it can go.
