Next big system crosses the west on Tuesday/Wednesday this week

The next strong cold front arrives in the west on Tuesday.

It has a feed of moisture from the Indian Ocean, ensuring that while it brings a burst of cold air and gusty winds, it also delivers a proper burst of rain.

It should come through in a one-two punch. The first front runs out of oomph as it moves inland, but it is quickly followed by a second front that ensures the rain keeps coming, and the rain can extend well inland. The rain also extends well northwards, thanks to the feed of moisture and a lack of blocking high pressure (that's over in the southeast)"

Potential rainfall this week

We'll see a large area with 25 to 50 mm about the coast and adjacent inalnd, with falls of 10 to 25 mm extending well inland.

Most of it arrives on Tuesday and Wednesday.
