Two strong high-pressure systems—one over the east and another in the west—will dominate the weather this week, bringing calm and stable conditions across much of the country. With very little moisture in the atmosphere, most areas can expect plenty of dry weather and mild sunny days, but it will come with a sting: very cold overnight temperatures.Widespread frost and morning fog are likely across many states, making for some very chilly starts each day.The main weather change this week is a cold front currently sitting over southern Western Australia. It will move into the Great Australian Bight on Tuesday before reaching the southeast on Wednesday. This system is expected to deliver significant rainfall to Tasmania and only light falls across parts of Victoria, while the rest of the country remains largely dry.Behind the front, a burst of cold southerly winds is expected to bring a sharp drop in temperatures.
