The first strong cold front of the autumn season has crossed southeastern Australia.
This lets colder, drier air from the Southern Ocean, extend northwards over Australia, replacing the heat and humidity.

It was cold enough to snow on the Australian Alps this morning, and if you're anywhere from Adelaide, to Hobart, to Melbourne to Sydney, you'll feel a difference in the air.

It remains on the cooler side today thanks to high pressure over the Bight - but do note that all the hot air hasn't disappeared - it is still affecting a large part of Queensland, the NT and Western Australia.

As soon as the high moves eastwards, that heat will return southwards - with hot conditions across the southeast again by mid week.
