Things are looking a bit soggy in the south, and fairly stable in the north, as we finish the week.
Cold fronts are passing by, with great stores of cold air - but the mainland is only seeing the top of these.
This means we miss the heavier precipitation, but we also miss the colder air.
Thursday is the best chance of it being cold enough for snow on the higher peaks, but it only delivers a few centimetres at best. Friday will be far too warm.

The weekend looks good!
High pressure moving through, delivering generally sunny skies. There is a weak disturbance overnight that shouldn't affect things much.

'Cut-off' lows are brewing for the new week.
Cut off from the fast westerlies to our south, they can wander rather than be whisked through. The slow movement can lead to significant precipitation for those in their path.
The key ingredient (as always in the Australian alps) is cold air.
Early in the week we are certainly missing this, it will be far too warm for snow.
But will there be a kick in the tail, a surge of cold air, to give us a very, very late in the season burst of snow?
