Weekly Weather Outlook
This week, we take a look at the summer seasonal forecast for November to January and discuss the possibility of wetter-than-usual conditions coming up. Spoiler alert: they’re not looking that wet! We’ll also unpack how to read seasonal forecasts and, importantly, how to get the most useful information from them when making farm decisions.
For this week’s weather, high pressure is set to dominate, bringing generally calm and stable conditions across the NT, Queensland and NSW for much of the week.
Down in the southeast, this stable pattern will be briefly interrupted by a front moving across South Australia and western Victoria today. Most of the rain and colder conditions associated with this system are expected further east, particularly across Victoria and Tasmania on Tuesday into Wednesday.
By Thursday, the front will have cleared and a strong high-pressure system will move in. This should bring clearer and more settled conditions, with the potential for morning frosts towards the end of the week, particularly in southern and elevated areas.
Over in Western Australia, a low-pressure trough in the interior will bring thunderstorms and rain to the region. This is likely to increase fire danger through the middle of the week, before the system clears by Thursday. A weak front will then move through southern WA, bringing some light rain to the south of the state.
