Anyone else had enough of sliding fronts?
High pressure has been sitting over Tasmanian-type latitudes, blocking weather systems from properly crossing the southeast. There has been plenty of moisture in parts of the country, coming in from the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, but hardly any of that reaches the alps when the high is in the way.
That changes as we begin the new week.
The next high is packing its bags and heading north. It should sit around the northern NSW/southern QLD-type latitudes - and that means the southeast is free.
The first in a series of fronts arrives on Tuesday.
This one won't be pretty. There is too much warm air.
But the next one is a lot nicer, and there are more to come after that. This kicks off wave after wave of instability that should continue for the rest of the week and potentially into the weekend.
The colder air arrives on Wednesday, and once that's here it keeps coming, with a decent burst of snow over the course of several days.
Enjoy!
