Dicky Bill Australia Optimises Operations with Jane's Weather PRO
In a significant advancement for precision agriculture, Dicky Bill Australia, a leading producer of leafy salad vegetables and herbs, has integrated Jane's Weather PRO into its operations. This collaboration was facilitated during an AgTech seminar organised by Clinton McGrath and Phil Ryan from the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) Queensland, held at Dicky Bill's Drinan farm.
About Dicky Bill Australia
Founded in 1996 by Richard William ("Dicky Bill") and Kaye Barnard, Dicky Bill Australia began as a modest 40-acre market garden in Stanthorpe, Queensland. After Dicky Bill's passing in 2001, their son, Ryan McLeod, took over the business, later joined by his wife, in 2008. Under their leadership, the company expanded its operations to Drinan, Queensland, and Maffra, Victoria, cultivating over 1,100 acres to supply premium baby leaf salads year-round.
The AgTech Seminars
In 2024, DAF Queensland's Clinton McGrath and Phil Ryan organised a series of AgTech seminars across rural Queensland to promote technological advancements in agriculture. One such seminar was hosted at Dicky Bill's Drinan farm, featuring innovations like advanced spraying drones and precision forecasting tools. Jane's Weather was invited to present its cutting-edge weather forecasting solutions at this event.
Integration of Jane's Weather PRO
Recognising the potential benefits, Clinton and Phil facilitated the connection of Dicky Bill's DAVIS weather station to Jane's Weather PRO. This integration provides team with accurate weather forecasts tailored to their specific microclimates. The enhanced forecasting capabilities optimi lanting schedules, irrigation management, and harvest planning, leading to improved operational efficiency and crop quality.
Positive Feedback and Future Outlook
The implementation of Jane's Weather PRO has received positive feedback from the Dicky Bill team. The precise weather data has enabled more informed decision-making, reducing risks associated with unique weather patterns at their unique location. As a result, Dicky Bill Australia is now a valued user of Jane's Weather PRO.
Special thanks are extended to Phil Ryan and Clinton McGrath for their dedication to advancing agricultural technology through seminars and initiatives across rural Queensland in 2024. Their efforts have been pivotal in fostering collaborations that drive innovation in the agricultural sector. We look forward to participating in more of these initiatives in 2025 and beyond.
