A cold pool of air is lingering over southeastern Australia, but it's chilly tentacles are being felt a little further north.
Warm Queensland isn't so hot right now, undergoing a run of well below average, frosty nights, followed by sunny days.
The coldest spot this morning is in Oakey. They fell to -5.1C at 6:35am.
This is the coldest it has been there in June since 2010.

BoM takes a while to compile their data, and here is the latest available at 10am on Friday. The map from Wednesday morning shows that large parts of Queensland were significantly below average, one spot by more than 10 degrees.

Brisbane fell to 6.5C on Thursday morning, then it was even colder this morning. A chilly start on 5.2C (7 degrees below average). This is the coldest June morning since June 30th in 2014, and the coldest morning this early in the year since 2006.
The cold pool is still here, so there are further chilly nights to come - potentially not thawing out until early next week.
Then there is rain on the way. Beginning in Cairns on Monday and working its way southwards. Rain means cloud, and cloud acts like a blanket - so the chilly nights will be no more.

Spare a thought for Oakey though - the frosty nights don't disappear until Tuesday morning next week, so there is still plenty of sub zero mornings to come before then.
