Good looking snow storm on the horizon, but there isn't much before later next Tuesday

The East Coast Low has moved away, and high pressure is moving in. This brings clearer conditions and lighter winds on Friday and Saturday.

The next weather system peaked in the west and will slide across the southeast. It does have a weak cold pool - and that should produce a little precipitation on Sunday into Monday - but it looks borderline for 1600 metres and clear below that.

Potential snow up high on Sunday and Monday

While this system isn't much fun, it does pave the way for the next onslaught.

A stronger cold front arrives on Tuesday, and once the cold air arrives it is here to stay for the rest of the week.

Most modelling has it borderline cold enough during the day on Tuesday, with light falls - then the precipitation increases as the cold air arrives on Tuesday night.

Snow continues through Wednesday, ahead of the big increase in intensity and cold air: Thursday.

Thursday looks to be the biggest day of this weather pattern, with the potential for great snowfalls, right through alpine elevations.

The potential for snow increases from Tuesday night onwards

When you see these forecasts with Daily Precipitation, that is in the 24 hours up until 10pm AEST - while the pressure and thickness/snow level lines are at that 10pm mark.
