14pm AEST update:
Cyclone Alfred is a category two, as of 4pm AEST 85km off the coast.
Most likely, Alfred crosses Moreton Island and North Stradbroke Island between around 4am and 10am on Saturday, as a category two.
Then the cyclone crosses the mainland coast just north of Brisbane, around Caboolture, around 10am to midday on Saturday, potentially as a category one.
The concerns with Alfred:
WINDS
- Damaging Wind Gusts up to 120km/h for a large part of the coast
- Destructive Wind Gusts up to 155km/h near and to the south of the core (likely to be over Moreton Island, North Stradbroke Island, and the coastal fringe just southeast of Brisbane)
RAIN
- Heavy rainfall, 400 - 800 mm over the course of the event
- Locally intense rainfall which may lead to Dangerous and Life-Threatening Flash Flooding near and to the south of the core
WATER
- Damaging Surf and Significant Beach Erosion
- A Dangerous Storm Tide if the crossing coincides with High Tide, and Abnormally High Tides
- Minor to Major Flooding in the days and weeks ahead

The rain from Alfred continues once the system has moved inland, and the significant falls extend a long way down the coast and inland too - in as far a central northern NSW and south to Wollongong through Sydney - this part not until early next week:
